The impact of social media and social networks in tourism
Social networks are not a strong sales tool, but it is useful to
- Market Analysis: Users and competition are increasingly exposed to the internet which makes these new tools because we get to know our competition (Benchmarking) and the needs of our customers and the market trends.
- Different Communication: until recently the only presence of a company on the internet was their website. Today, from my point of view a company has three Webs: the web we know your blog and your fan page on Facebook.
- Capturing the public objective: a blog, for example, that speaks to a destination can be a reference for interested target audience at the destination. A page Fans can capture that audience through Social Positioning (recommendations from friends, viewing the pages of friends) Contests (which can also be used in our strategy for e- mail marketing), Facebook Ads (perhaps the segmentation tool stronger than exists today on the Internet).
- Loyalty: Just like a bar you, love you know the owner or waiter Internet is the same. The ability to interact with your favourite brands and that these will deem important to them is a powerful loyalty tool.
- Organic Optimization (SEO): we add the effect blog, links that you can generate for your blog to position your website and links to other brands that interact with you on social networks generate safe for you by the simple fact that they "like you".
- Geo: Maybe is something that not everyone has realized its importance, but which increasingly is becoming more important.
From my point of view yet few will buy through your " booking engine Facebook" or your "iPhone application" but:
- They will help you improve your product if you ask them, free or residual cost and if you hit your needs you buy. They will appreciate having you around and always will choose over a competitor who does not put a face.
- They'll make more if those who always say the same
- They empathize with you and defend if someone criticizes.
- You will support your positioning strategies while not aware that what they are doing.
- You will be prepared and well positioned for when users are accustomed to buying through these new tools.
